Yard care for seasonal homes
Lawn Care for Snowbirds While You Are Away
Summer is when a Florida yard grows the fastest, and it is exactly when you are not here. Jeff can take on the mowing, the edges and the hedges, so you are not coming home to a jungle.
What Jeff Can Keep Up For You
You decide how much of this you want done and how often. That all gets settled on the free estimate.
- Mowing and edging
- Weed eating around beds, fences and the driveway
- Hedge and shrub trimming
- Tree trimming, including large oaks
- Palm fronds cut back and cleared
- Leaves, clippings and yard debris hauled off

A Few Weeks Is All It Takes
Up north, you can skip a mowing or two and nobody notices. Here, heavy summer rain and heat can turn a neat lawn into a weedy one fast. Palms drop fronds, hedges grow into the walkway and weeds move into the beds.
Then there is what a yard says about a house. The University of Florida guide on seasonal homes says burglars are likely to bypass houses that appear to have active residents, and that your house should have a lived-in appearance. A shaggy yard with nobody around sends the opposite message.
In a Community With Upkeep Rules?
Many Central Florida communities have lawn standards, and they apply whether you are home or not. Ask your community what it covers and what stays with you. If you live in The Villages, our page on The Villages explains how it works there.

Why One Person Beats a Mow-and-Go Crew Here
A mowing crew mows. If a sprinkler head is broken or a limb is hanging over the roof, that is usually someone else's department, and you are the one who has to find that someone from out of state.
Jeff also does sprinkler repair and general repairs, so if the yard work turns up another problem, you do not have to start your search over. He works across Marion, Lake and Sumter counties, and you only need one number.
Hauling is part of what he does too, so clippings and fronds do not have to sit in a pile at the curb.
What to Show Jeff Before You Leave
A good walk around the yard saves a lot of phone calls later. Point out any plants you want left alone, beds you take care of yourself, and sprinkler heads that sit close to the edge of the lawn. If you are in a community with rules, have them on hand so the work is done to the right standard.
Tell him when you leave and when you are coming back, so the yard can be in good shape for your return. Then tell him how you want to hear about problems, whether that is a call or a text. If he spots something during the summer, you will have already settled how he reaches you.
